Dispatches from the Future: Leap Motion

This one is intriguing, because since even before the film Minority Report, the idea of manipulating data on your computer without having to touch a mouse or keyboard has been thought of as the stuff of science fiction. Now, this device, a distant cousin of Xbox Kinect, promises to change the way we interact with out computers. The best part is it’s affordable, only $79.99. And it won’t be too long a wait, either: they say they begin shipping the week of May 13.

Personally, I don’t know if I want to do all my computing by raising my arms in the air, but it might be fun for gaming and other visual endeavors. I’ll likely blog again about this in May, after some hands-on, or is it hands-FREE time…
